About Old Paths Baptist Church

We believe in old-fashioned preaching and teaching of the Bible.

Jeremiah 6:16

“Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

Who is Old Paths Baptist Church?

When our church started up back in the early 1980’s we were known as Calvary Baptist Church. And from Pastor Love and our humble beginnings to our congregation today led by Pastor Mast…

Old Paths Baptist Church has been preaching the gospel and winning souls to Christ in the Dubuque area for almost 40 years.

There’s a reason Old Paths Baptist Church is known as an Independent, Bible-believing Baptist church of born-again believers in Dubuque, Iowa.

Here’s what that means:

WE ARE A BIBLE BELIEVING BAPTIST CHURCH...

…because we practice what our name suggests. Those of us who have trusted Christ as our personal Lord and Savior have followed the Lord in biblical Believer’s baptism.

WE ARE AN INDEPENDENT BAPTIST CHUCH...

…because we are a self-governing church that fully embraces the autonomy of the local church. We don’t answer to any convention, board, or denominational hierarchy. We follow the biblical principle that Old Paths Baptist Church should govern herself.

AND WE ARE A KJV 1611 BIBLE-BELIEVING CHURCH...

…because we hold the King James English Bible as the inerrant and complete word of God. It’s the immutable and ultimate authority in all of our doctrine which affects everything we do and how we do it.

Every now and then we get asked the question…

Why the Name, “Old Paths Baptist Church”?

It’s no secret that lots of Baptists nowadays are compromising what Baptists have held strong for ages. Churches who once did God’s work according to the Bible are now doing something else in a way the Bible doesn’t teach. This compromise has caused some Independent Baptist churches to stray from what it means to be a Baptist. That’s totally between them and God. However…

We’re going to stick with the Bible and what it says.

It’s important to protect biblical teachings. Because as Jeremiah 6:16 says,

“Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls…”
