He Is Risen
I Corinthians 15:20-22
“The resurrection is the greatest event in human history”
- The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- Every part of the Gospel is essential for salvation.
- Faith is empty and worthless.
- Then why does His name bother the Unbeliever and Satan?
- Christ IS risen, reigning, and returning.
- The Gospel demands belief in the resurrection.
- The resurrection demands obedience and a life of faith to Christ in victory.
- We must appropriate the Gospel to our life.
- The cross was His suffering, but our salvation. (Matthew 27:27-50, Romans 5:9)
- On the cross, Christ suffered as a sinner and was treated as a criminal for crimes He did not commit.
- His suffering was our salvation. His blood was shed for our redemption. His blood bought us peace with God and drew us nigh to God.
- We must glory in the cross, not our works.
- The tomb was His anguish, but our atonement. (Matthew 27:57-60, 66)
- The tomb finalized His death and seemed to spell defeat to His family and followers.
- “The King of the world and eternity was placed in a tomb. The King of splendor was laid to rest. The forces of evil celebrated victory. His bold followers hid in fear. Christ did not belong in the tomb.” – E.R. Mast
- His death and burial paid my penalty so I do not have to.
- It must become more than a story, but a reality to you.
- The resurrection was His triumph, but our transformation. (Matthew 28:1-6)
- Jesus triumphed over death and Hell by rising again. Death is no longer final. (Colossian 2:15, I Corinthians 15:55)
- By His resurrection, we are given new life and victory. His resurrection gave us the same victory He has.
- The Gospel is for you and I to claim the victory of the resurrection and walk in newness of life and freedom from sin. (Romans 6:3-7)
- Death has no power over Christ. Sin has no power over the Believer. In Christ, we have victory.
- His resurrection guarantees mine. (I Corinthians 15:20-21, 51-53; John 3:16)
- His resurrection guarantees judgment for the Unbeliever.
Make His victory your victory. Appropriate the Gospel to your life
