He Is Enough
Colossians 2:1-13
“We are complete in Christ.”
- Paul wrote the letter to the Colossians to correct the false doctrine that Christ was not enough for salvation.
- The Colossians added things such as traditions, good works, knowledge, mysticism, and self-denial to the elements of salvation.
- WHAT IS MAN THAT WE SHOULD GLORY IN OURSELVES?
- Nothing in us is equal to the glory of God.
- We are not qualified for salvation in and of ourselves.
- We are totally corrupted by sin in our nature, heart, spirit, and body.
- THE MEETNESS TO BE PARTAKERS IS GIVEN. (v. 12)
- God gave us the qualifications and requirements needed to be saved.
- Salvation is an act of God’s grace, not any action done by man.
- THE FATHER IS THE EQUIPPER OF THE MEETNESS FOR SALVATION. (v. 12)
- JESUS CHRIST IS THE COMPLETER OF SALVATION.
- It is not the mind of God to destroy man or send them to Hell.
- God wants us to have salvation and sent Christ to give it to us.
- Complete – full, established, whole.
- Matthew 12 – The miracles described show us complete healing by Christ.
- Just as those healed by Christ’s miracles were completely healed, we are completely whole in Christ at salvation.
- In Christ, there is complete salvation. (Colossians 1:2, 27)
- In Christ, there is redemption through His blood.
- In Christ, there is complete forgiveness. (Colossians 2:13-14)
- In Christ, there is complete victory. (Colossians 1:13; 2:14-15)
- Sin has no power over the Believer.
- APPLICATION FOR THE BELIEVER:
- Christ is to be preached. (Colossians 1:28-29)
- Christ is to be lived. (Colossians 2:6-7; 3:1-2)
- Christ is to be worshipped. (Colossians 1:12; 2:7; 3:15-17; 4:2)
- In Christ I am justified, and purified, and will one day be glorified.
