Christ Our Passover (Part 3)
Exodus 12:1-13
- The Passover marked a new beginning for Israel and became an important part of their life
- The cross of Calvary marked the beginning of the New Testament
- Salvation marks a new beginning for the Believer
- The Passover was protection from God’s wrath and judgment
- The cross of Calvary and salvation provide protection for the Believer from God’s wrath and judgment
- The blood had to be applied for their protection (vv. 7-8)
- The blood was to distinguish them from Egypt
- Christ sanctifies the Believer with His blood
- Salvation makes us part of God’s family
- The Lamb had to be consumed (v. 8)
- Israel was to eat the lamb at an appointed time
- Christ had an appointed time for Calvary
- Now is the time of salvation offered to every man
- There is an appointed time for sanctification
- The Passover was an important part of Jewish culture.
- Reminded them of how God brought them out of the misery of Egypt
- The Lord’s Supper reminds the Believer of what Christ died for, where we came from, and where we are going.
- The Passover Lamb, Calvary, Salvation, and Sanctification all have an appointed time.
